CPD Activities

The categories of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities are:

A.      Skill development

B.       Gaining new knowledge and information

C.      Contributing to the development of professional Feng Shui knowledge and practice

A - Skill Development

Participation in skill development workshops, courses or supervised practice* for skill development.

One point per hour of learning time.

*Supervised practice means working with an experienced practitioner for the purpose of skill development or working with a mentor as a way of developing skills.

B - Gaining New Knowledge and Information

Reading relevant publications.

Each journal or book chapter earns one point (to a maximum of 25% of total points).

Attending conferences, seminars, information sessions, other professional presentations, lectures and guest talks.

Two points per hour of learning time.  Only actual learning time may be included.

Any formal study/learning programme that contributes to professional development (eg Feng Shui course to advanced level, studies in Psychology, Interior Design, Building, Traditional Chinese Medicine).

1 point per hour for shorter courses or 20 points per semester, which includes all reading, face to face classes or supervision meetings and assessment tasks.  Members cannot count points for course related reading separately.

Practice-based research projects where a Feng Shui practitioner is involved in research projects that are rigorous and properly conducted and the researcher is participating as a learner or as an expert in the field.

10 points per research project.

C - Contributing to Professional Knowledge and Practice

Conducting a skill development workshop.  Actual presentation time for workshops, provided the material being presented constitutes practical knowledge.

5 points per presentation hour for first time presentation only.

Publishing Feng Shui articles and writing books.

Each publication earns 5 points and 20 points for a book.

Professional supervision and mentoring.  This includes any arrangement for review of work and development of knowledge and skills including individual, group and peer supervision and/or mentoring.

One point per hour of learning time.

Presentation of conference papers and other professional presentations.  Actual presentation time and only first time may be included.

Five points per hour of presentation time.

Active membership of professionally relevant committees and boards.  This includes Feng Shui committees, special interest groups, government and community advisory panels, relevant external organisations etc.

10 points per year for professional Feng Shui committees etc. 5 points per year for other committees.

Other activities.  Members may submit other activities and programmes such as software workshops or business programmes provided that relevance to their professional development requirements can be shown.

Points on application.

CPD activities may be sourced from many places and include:

·  attendance at conferences, meetings or classes

·  presentation at conferences

·  organizing conferences

·  skill development programmes

·  reading professional publications

·  providing supervision for students

·  mentoring, review and assessment

·  study of Feng Shui and related topics

·  writing professional papers

·  preparation of presentation materials

·  attendance on TV or radio

·  interviews in the media

·  writing articles for publication, print media interviews

·  writing books

·  creating educational videos/DVDs

·  creating educational products

·  presenting business modules

·  lecturing/tutoring in person, recorded or online via audio-visual

·  conducting or attending study tours

·  participation in research activities

·  participation/judging in awards programmes

·  exhibition of Feng Shui work

·  participation in expos

·  curation of Feng Shui exhibitions

·  active membership of relevant boards and committees

·  other activities involving Feng Shui that the member deems relevant

FENG SHUI network Sponsored CPD Activities

Activities which qualify for CPD will be provided by organisations or resources outside the FSN.

Also, the FSN will periodically run programmes or facilitate activities that attract CPD points (such as the FENG SHUI network Annual Conference).  These are known as FENG SHUI network Sponsored CPD Activities.

Those programmes accredited and/or identified by the FSN are eligible as FENG SHUI network Sponsored CPD Activities.  These events attract additional CPD points to encourage support of the events and to acknowledge the commitment and work of the members who contribute to the profession.

CPD Points 2007 & 2008

To gain accreditation at the commencement of the programme on 1 January 2008 a Member must document a minimum of 30 points for the period 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2007 and sign and return the CPD Form provided.  In 2007 it is necessary to earn minimum 20 points from categories A and B.

For the 2008 cycle CPD points will also be 30 points subject to any prior review of the points system.  In 2008 it is necessary to earn minimum 20 points from categories A and B.

General Notes on CPD Points

One learning hour of CPD equals one CPD point.

FENG SHUI network Sponsored CPD Activities one learning hour or part thereof earns two CPD points.

Networking, social and administrative activities do not accrue CPD points.

There is no maximum number of points.  Members are encouraged to record more than the minimum points.  Points in excess do not carry over to the next year’s cycle.

Members: How to Get Started

Go to www.fengshuinetwork.net/members/amend.php and update your listing to reflect your participation in the FSNAM CPD Programme.  Then download the above forms and keep your records.

1.                   Analyse your current situation, strengths and focus, any gaps in knowledge

2.                   Set CPD goals, check for activities that suit your goals

3.                   Research and schedule your activities

4.                   Record your CPD activities

5.                   Review your progress

CPD Checklist

q       Plan your annual CPD activities.

q       Attend and participate in CPD activities.

q       Record activities in FSNAM CPD Form.

q       Complete CPD Declaration at bottom of FSNAM CPD Form and return with your annual subscription.

q       Retain FSNAM CPD Form and documentary evidence for three years and supply to the FSN if required for audit.

q       Promote your Accredited Feng Shui ProfessionalTM qualification in your professional activities/business cards/website, etc.
