Building Biology is 'the study of the impact of the built environment on human beings.'

Originating in Germany, where it is known as Bau-Biologie, Building Biology aims to identify and rectify problems associated with harmful chemicals, toxins, airborne particles and forms of electromagnetic and geopathic energy which may be harmful to our health.

These days, sophisticated electronic equipment may be used for these tasks.

By reducing the offending substances as much as possible, our immune systems are better equipped to deal with unavoidable pollutants.

For instance, examine the chemicals most of us store under the kitchen sink. When washing the dishes, minute traces of chemicals are filtering up from the cupboard (called off-gassing) and being inhaled. Opening the cupboard door a few times doesn't help either.

It's better to remove these chemicals to the garage or storage area.

So next time you purchase your cleaning or household products, take a look at the contents and consider whether you really need that item or is there a more natural product you can use.
