| back to n-s issue | Response to the N/S debate 12/9/2000
I am writing this in response to the Northern
Hemisphere and Southern Hemisphere debate.
The world revolves around hydrogen, and as there
is a positive and negative charge for hydrogen, so then is there polarities in
everything that can be imagined, working together to create the reality in
which we live. Some say that our physical bodies are created first, others say
our spiritual bodies are created first, does it matter?
The important theme is that, if the physical body
was created first, then we must develop the spiritual through the physical,
and if the spiritual body was created first, then we must develop the physical
body through the spiritual.
The unwillingness of the Northern Feng Shui
practitioners to accept this reality, seems to me at odds with the basis of
feng shui and its related arts.
Living in the Southern Hemisphere and being born
here ( although not the same country ) I have been studying feng shui along
with all the other modalities that would constitute Living in Harmony, and
have followed the Northern Feng Shui methods, only to find that in practical
terms, that it wasn't me. Then, trying Southern Hemisphere Fung Shui, I found
something different.
Reading your articles about the debate, I found
that it seemed more a competition to see who had read the most books (
regardless of the topic ), or who could understand the biggest words. There
didn't seem to be any help to the issue.
Especially the terms ignorance and so forth are
very out of place.
My personal view is that the Archetypes take their
proper place, but so does the Sun. In the Northern Hemisphere it is in the
South, and in the Southern Hemisphere, it is in the North. This in itself
seems to satisfy some common laws:
for every action there is a positive AND negative
reaction - ie, for every action there are two reactions which happen
simultaneously. One is of a positive nature ( yang ) and the other of a
negative nature ( yin ). This is true for everything including Hydrogen.
There are also talks about the Earths poles
shifting every now and then. So who's to say that if i were born 10,000 years
ago , I wouldn't be writing this in favour of the Northern Hemisphere.
The point is that according to Chinese thought
there are two forces working in opposite directions to create reality.
Where as the people who refuse to acknowledge this
are literally saying that there are two forces working in the same direction.
I don't think so.
Please keep in mind that Feng Shui has (contrary
to popular beliefs) been practiced out side of Asia for quite some time (only under different names) and I think that seeing as we are know or
soon will be a global community, it would be interesting to try and combine
many of the cultural systems and see what kind of reality turns up.
There are more connections between Western Occult
Knowledge, Oriental Cultural Knowledge and Modern Scientific Evidence than
many people seem to realise. If this person who calls another ignorant were to
tread outside of the security of his Turtle shell, he may discover that the
debate, like all debates, are useless. The truth lies to the east, and west,
not the north and south.
